Sharia law in the UK.
Should Sharia law be banned in the UK? Plus Nihal has a guest panel in the studio for Letting Off Steam. Call in with your rants.
At 1, Nihal kicks off the week by asking 'Should Sharia Law be banned in the UK?'
Asian Network will be airing a documentary tonight called 'Sharia Britain' which establishes the growth in numbers of people consulting Sharia councils in order to resolve disputes. However, some women's groups are calling for a ban on Sharia Law in the UK because they believe Sharia Law is discriminating against women. While many people find it a quick and easy way to sort out problems over contracts and inhertience others are worried that lack of regulation and community pressure mean that they can be dangerous.
So what do you think? Is Sharia Law quick, easy and accessible for everyone? Or is there no place for it here in Britain? Would you consider a Sharia Council in order to solve a dispute? Call Nihal and tell him what you think.
At 2, Letting off Steam.
Nihal will be joined by Rapper Shizio, Chef Manju Mali and TV presenter Hanieh Chehrehnegary in the studio and they're all Letting off Steam. You can call in and tell us what has been getting on your nerves and the panel can help alleviate your stress.
