A 拢963,000 bonus for the boss of RBS is criticised, the Arab league will ask the UN security council to support its plan to end Syrian violence, America cuts 100 thousand troops.

Dotun Adebayo with stories from around the world.
The boss of RBS, Stephen Hester, is to get a bonus worth 拢963,000. It's been criticised by many, including the shadow treasury minister, Chris Leslie. He tells us the bonus culture should have changed by now because the public don't like it, and claims that RBS isn't growing as an asset, despite being majority owned by taxpayers.

We get the latest from the World Economic Forum in Davos, where David Cameron has described plans for a tax on financial transactions as madness. Simon Chouffot from the Robin Hood tax campaign disagrees. He tells us they just want big companies to pay their fair share.

The Arab League is going to ask the United Nations Security Council to support its plan to end the violence in Syria. Steven Heydeman from the United States Institute of Peace says the Arab League has taken an important step in publicly calling for President Assad to step down, but they still have a long way to go if they want peace to return to Syria.
