Her award-winning novels such as The Forty Rules of Love have been translated into over thirty languages and deal with the complexities of her country's transformation. Elif Shafak discusses her writing and the challenges facing modern Turkey as the country seeks to join the E.U. and exerts a growing influence over the Middle East.
