Gamble and Huff
Michael explores the songwriting partnership of Gamble and Huff.
Michael Ball's Songwriting Partnerships continues tonight with Gamble and Huff.
Pioneers of Philadelphia soul, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff have written and produced over 170 gold and platinum records. They wrote some of the most popular hits of the 1970s, including If You Don't Know Me by Now by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes; Back Stabbers and Love Train by the O'Jays, and the Grammy-winning Me and Mrs. Jones by Billy Paul.
Together with music journalists Neil McCormick and Alexis Petridis, Michael explores the songs they wrote, the artists they wrote for and the skill that goes into writing a popular song that stands the test of time.
