Nicola Benedetti (violin), Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin), Maxim Rysanov (viola) and Leonard Elschenbroich (cello) perform Mahler and Shostakovich at LSO St Luke's in London.

The second of four concerts this week given by captivating British violinist Nicola Benedetti and friends at LSO St Luke's in London. Today, she is joined by Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin), Maxim Rysanov (viola), Leonard Elschenbroich (cello) and Alexei Grynyuk (piano) for Shostakovich's Piano Quintet in G minor. The Quintet was awarded the Stalin Prize just a year after its first performance for which the composer himself was at the piano. Alongside this piece, performances of Shostakovich's 5 pieces for two violins and piano, as well as Mahler's unfinished Piano Quartet.
