Yemen: Sarah Ishaq

A poem to capture the spirit of every nation at the 2012 Games. Mansur Rajih's poem The Fatherland was written in Yemen and is read by Scottish-Yemeni film student Sarah Ishaq.

Mansur Rajih's poem The Fatherland was written in Yemen in 1958 yet resonates with the country and its people today. It was translated by Ren Powell and is read by Scottish-Yemeni film student Sarah Ishaq who made a film documenting the events of March 18 2011 when a protest in the capital Sanaa erupted in violence leaving many dead and wounded. Her film is called Karama Has No Walls.
