St George's Day - Calling yourself English.
Should Asians living in the UK be proud to call themselves English, Welsh or Scottish? Plus in Keep It or Leave It, should Asians stop calling everyone 'aunty' or 'uncle'?
At 1, Should Asians living in the UK be proud to call themselves English, Welsh or Scottish?
A survey has found nearly a quarter of English people feel the Cross of St George is associated with racism and extremism. It also suggested that more people are proud to identify themselves as being Scottish or Welsh than being English.
But are any of these terms ones which Asians refer to themselves as? Or are perceptions of racism still holding them back? Would you ever refer to yourself as being English, Scottish or Welsh? And if not, why not? If you were born in the UK are you being ungrateful for not identifying with it? Would your religion come first before your national identity? Or do you think it's not important to to call yourself English, Scottish or Welsh? Call Nihal and tell him what you think.
At 2, Keep it or Leave it - Should Asians stop calling everyone 'aunty' and 'Uncle'?
Do you do this? Don't we have enough REAL aunties and uncles of our own? Isn't it a bit strange using this term? Or is it all about respect? Call, text and email Nihal with your views.
