One man is shot dead and three others are injured by a gunman who opens fire in a pub in Greater Manchester. 12 towns get a share of 拢1.2 million as part of a Mary Portas makeover.

* 1 man is dead and 3 others are injured after a gunman opens fire at a pub in Greater Manchester. The victims were in the Cotton Tree Inn in Droylsden late last night. Police say the victim, who's believed to be in his early 20s, died at the scene.
* 12 towns are to be given a share of 拢1.2 million pounds as part of a Mary Portas High Street makeover. Michael Weedon from the British Independent Retail Association says this is not a "magic bullet" for the British High Streets.
