Kofi Anan to meet Syrian president Assad, Egypt picks presidential candidates. Plus the moving story of Brian Banks who is restarting his life after a false rape conviction.
The UN peace envoy, Kofi Annan, will hold talks with Syrian President Bashar Al Assad later, as he tries to bring an end to the violence in the country with his peace plan. Mr Annan has described the massacre of more than one-hundred people in the town of Houla last week as an "appalling crime". The Syrian regime says it was not responsible for the killings.
The campaign headquarters of one of Egypt's presidential candidates has been attacked by protestors, hours after election results confirmed he will take part in next month's run off vote. Ahmed Shafiq, who was the last prime minister under Hosni Mubarak, will face Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood.
