As part of the 大象传媒's Punk Britannia season Liz Kershaw chats to Pete Shelley, frontman of seminal punk act The Buzzcocks.

Howard Devoto at the Bolton Institute of Technology in 1975, and travelled to London to see The Sex Pistols. They made their debut in Manchester the following year supporting the Pistols. They released their debut record, 'The Spiral Scratch' ep in 1977. Devoto left shortly after this and Shelley took over as lead vocalist and songwriter. They released 3 albums before splitting up in 1981. Shelley released a number of solo albums, which show cased his earlier interest in electronic music. He had worked with producer Martin Rushent in The Buzzcocks, and he produced his first solo album after the bands split. 'Homosapien'. This laid the groundwork for his next production, Human League's 'Dare'.
The Buzzocks reformed in 1989 and have continued to release albums and tour. They recently played concerts with the original and classic line ups reunited for the first time in many years.
