Episode 1

A chance to hear some of the programmes Clash frontman Joe Strummer recorded for the 大象传媒 World Service in 2000.

In 2000, Joe Strummer became a DJ for the 大象传媒 World Service - this is how he sounded. Repeated as part of 大象传媒 Radio 6 Music and 大象传媒 Four's Punk Britannia season.

Almost ten years after his sad death at the age of 50, there's a chance to hear some of the programmes Clash frontman Joe Strummer recorded for the 大象传媒 World Service in 2000. He often started these shows with a song by Jamaican toaster Big Youth - after that it was anybody's guess - from Bob Dylan to The Ramones via Nina Simone, Bo Diddley and Jimmy Reed. Here's another chance to see what he carried in his DJ box.
