Are you backward if you tell your children not to date someone who is Black?

We're asking this because of a story in this morning's papers about the parents of a white girl who have been sent to prison for beating up their daughter when they found out she was dating a Black man. They accused her of "bringing shame" on the family. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the parents over reacted? Or can you understand why they would be angry?
