Nihal asks - What can Sikhs do to educate the wider public more about their faith and identity?

In the aftermath of the Wisconsin shootings, Sikh groups in the US have said they've been vulnerable since the 9/11 attacks. They've also voiced concern at what they regard to be a high level of ignorance about their faith. One complaint being that they're often confused as being part of the Taliban. Such concerns seem to have been highlighted by the Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney who - when speaking at a fundraising event - twice mistakenly used the word "Sheikh" instead of 'Sikh'.

So what needs to be done to educate the wider public about the differences within religions and their identities?
