US advert for Muslims in Pakistan

Nihal asks whether it is America's responsibility to appease angry Muslims. Plus tabla player Gurdain and artistic director Sandeep Virdee are in the studio.

At 1pm, Is it America's responsibility to appease angry Muslims? It's Friday, the Muslim day of prayer and in Pakistan the Government has designated today a holiday to "show love for the Prophet". This hasn't gone terribly well so far with riots across the country, cinemas being torched, a TV reporter being shot dead by Police trying to disperse the crowds and the mobile phone network being closed down.

They are of course, protesting about the film "The Innocence of Muslims", which was made in America. In response to the anger, the US State department has bought thousands of pounds worth of TV advertising to explain that the American Government do not support the film. But is it the US's responsibility to calm the protests down? Does the US have anything to apologise about? Do you think that an American apology would change anything?

After 2, what music do you listen to? Hip-Hop, R n B, Bollywood, Bhangra? What about classical music? Artists like Hariprasad Chaurasia, MS Subbulakshmi, Bismillah Khan, Ravi Shankar? If so, then tune in as Nihal will be joined by Tabla player Gurdain and Sandeep Virdee, who's put together a classical music festival at the Southbank Centre.
