The whole Beechgrove team are out of the garden and on the road to help out on the final stages of the creation of a wonderful new community garden for the community of Knockinlaw in Kilmarnock.
This community have come together to rebuild their community hall/centre and around that new building they are creating an ornamental and productive garden for locals to enjoy being in, but also to enjoy the produce from.
Jim, Carole, Lesley, George and Carolyn are all helping out with the garden as well as visiting local award-winning bedding plant display gardens and gardeners and solving a few local gardening problems.
For Jim, it is a return to his roots. Both he and the community garden designer, Lynn Harris, are Kilmarnock born and bred, and they return to take a horticultural look at their town.
The Beechgrove Community Garden initiative enables communities to grow their own garden for themselves, by themselves with a little help from Beechgrove. There are now well over 200 gardens that have been enabled in this way across Scotland.
