Jonathan Edwards presents live coverage of the Great City Games from the quayside in Gateshead, where disciplines range from the 100m hurdles to the pole vault. Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford is part of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team who are taking on the USA.

Now in its fifth year, the Great City Games has become a popular fixture in the athletics calendar, and is the perfect complement to tomorrow's Great North Run; in 2011, the event attracted more than 15,000 spectators, who got a prime view of the athletes competing on the purpose-built track right in the heart of the city.
