The Chancellor wants to cut a further 拢10 billion pounds from the benefits budget. Savings could be made by limiting the number of children in a family who can be supported by welfare payments and capping housing benefit for the under-25s. Can we afford to cut welfare more? Can we afford not to?
Parents are drinking too much as a way of coping with the demands of family life. The charity 4Children are warning of a "silent epidemic" of habitual alcohol misuse. But is there really anything wrong with harassed parents having a few glasses of wine in the evening to relax?
