* A study in the Lancet of 1-million women shows if you give up smoking before 30 you almost eliminate the risk of dying from a tobacco-related disease.

* The Environment Secretary, Owen Paterson has confirmed that a ban on the import of ash trees will come into force on Monday in an attempt to halt the spread of a deadly fungal disease.

* Former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi says he wil appeal against his 4 year prison sentence, reduced to 1 year for tax evasion.
