The last time the Springboks visited Murrayfield they were beaten 21-17, thanks to a spirited performance by the Scottish forwards and a superb kicking display from Dan Parks.

Andy Robinson's side are fresh from an unbeaten tour of the southern hemisphere this summer, where they secured an impressive victory against Australia and further wins over Fiji and Samoa.

In contrast, the South Africans arrived in Europe for the autumn internationals after a disappointing time in the inaugural Rugby Championship, formerly known as the Tri-Nations, in which they finished third and managed only two wins out of their six matches.
