Over 拢1m a day, 拢370m a year - that's what an official report says obesity is costing us here in NI... What personal responsibility have overweight people to bring down the bill?
Obesity is costing Northern Ireland more than 拢1m a day according to an official report published today. The major study issued by cross border body safefood has put the annual bill at a 拢370m. About a quarter of that figure involves direct healthcare costs i.e. hospital in-patient.
The total also involves economic costs like reduced or lost productivity and absenteeism in the workplace but just what can be done to tackle the problem - that we're told is getting steadily worse?
