North Korea says it has successfully launched a satellite rocket and the owner of a monkey which went walkabout in an Ikea store in Canada says she wants him back.

Rhod Sharp with stories from around the world. North Korea says it has successfully launched its rocket in defiance of international warnings. It says a satellite has been put in orbit but the country's neighbours and the US have called the launch a cover for long-range missile development.

Two people are shot dead by a gunman at a shoopping mall in Portland, Oregon. Up All Night speaks to eye witnesses at the scene where it later transpires the killer has turned the gun on himself.

There are weather warnings as the UK braces itself for the coldest night of the winter so far. Freezing fog is making driving treacherous.

And the owner of a Macaque monkey which went walkabout in an Ikea store in Toronto tells Up All Night she wants him back. Darwin, who wears a sheepskin coat because he gets cold, has been seized by the authorities who say Yasmin Nakhuda shouldn't have had him in the first place.
