Trenton Oldfield says it is. He was jailed for 6 months after swimming into the river and disrupting the Oxford and Cambridge boat race. He said he was protesting against government cuts and elitism.
'Futile, deluded and narcissistic' -- that's what his critics said. Supporters praised it as timely and symbolic - and condemned his sentence as heavy handed. He's now been released with an electronic tag after serving 7 weeks of his term for causing a public nuisance.
