During his career in the City Geraint Anderson started writing an anonymous newspaper column, called City Boy, detailing the excesses and vices of life in that environment. AfterÌýa motorcycle accidentÌýhe changed his life, left his job, quit the column and settled down in the Black Mountains of Wales.

Kevin Mintern was illiterate until his late twenties. He left school at 12 unable to read or write muddling his way through life until his daughter, Cathy, wasÌý7 and began reading herself. It was then that Kevin knew he had to learn.
