Clare English talks to guests Sophie Hannah, Gerda Stevenson and Fiona Brownlee, plus she hears from Andrew Solomon about his new book Far From The Tree.
American author Andrew Solomon joins the Book Caf茅 on the UK leg of his book tour to talk about devoting 11 years to writing FAR FROM THE TREE, a moving study of parental love in the face of adversity. Scottish Actress Gerda Stevenson and Marketing Director of Mainstream Books Fiona Brownlee review the book and discuss their own experience of being mothers to exceptional children.
Plus, Bob Dixon has a report about The Living Memory Association. The charity has taken memories of 92 year old pensioner Rose Minto and used them as the basis for a fictional storyline in a new graphic novel, set in 1920's Leith, entitled FALLEN by Miles Tubb and Ian Emerson.
And crime writer Sophie Hannah claims to get her ideas from real events that happen to her. In her latest thriller THE CARRIER Sophie draws on the horror she felt after being forced to share a double bed with a complete stranger but fellow passenger, in an airport hotel after their flight was cancelled.
