Safety on public transport

Two weeks ago, sixteen year old Christina Edkins from Birmingham died after being stabbed on a bus while on her way to school. A man, aged 22 has appeared in court charged with her murder. Lauren and Holly are worried about the level of anti-social behaviour on buses. To discuss, Woman’s Hour is joined by Kerry Blakeman, Chief Inspector of West Midlands Police and part of the in the West Midlands.  

Unemployment

The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show that there are currently 2.5 million unemployed people in the UK.  While the number of people not working continues to fall, for those still seeking employment, the figures offer little comfort.  ´óÏó´«Ã½ News School Reporter, 14 year old Verity has been finding out how unemployment has affected her family.  Her dad Tim was made redundant last November, and since then the family have been adjusting to life where dad's at home and money is tight.

Henry Dimbleby Cooks The Perfect…School Dinner

As part of the project, Henry Dimbleby prepares the perfect school dinner: . Henry Dimbleby is a co-founder of the Leon restaurant chain and he is also taking part in the campaign to encourage children to learn to cook five dishes by the age of 16, so what will our 15 year old presenters Lauren and Holly think of his campaign and more importantly, his cooking?

Hannah Cockcroft

One major legacy of the Olympics and Paralympics Games was a huge number of new British sporting heroes. And they’ve all  been setting new records  travelling round the country  meeting and inspiring young people. The pupils of Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Highschool in Halifax have welcomed local girl Hannah Cockcroft to their school.
