The Labour Party and the Foreign Office have called on Saudi Arabia not to paralyse a man as punishment for stabbing a friend - whose injuries left him in a wheelchair.
They're one of our closest allies in the Middle East - Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall made a state visit last month.
Does it matter how Saudi Arabia treats its citizens? Should we use our influence to do something about it? Or is their judicial system their own business?
We've given sanctuary to Malala Yousafzai - the Pakistani schoolgirl shot in the head by the Taliban for campaigning for women's rights - is it hypocritical for us to count a country like Saudi Arabia as a friend?
Or is our strategic relationship with the Saudis too important to risk damaging over an issue like this?
