Pipes in the Peaks

The Compton, restored by David Thorp at his Pipes in the Peaks, is celebrating its 75th birthday. Nigel Ogden joins David amidst his other passion, classic car restoration.

Organ pipes are not the only things shining in Thorpe Derbyshire. The Compton organ restored by David Thorp at Pipes in the Peaks, his uniquely combined classic car restoration garage and concert hall, is celebrating its 75th birthday and is looking at its best. Nigel Ogden pays a visit to find out about its history and hears from assistant organist Christian Cartright about how they've developed the organ to reflect the music of today; Nigel also gets to play a couple of numbers himself.
