John Beattie enters the world of National Hunt racing as he tours the country, meeting the trainers, owners and jockeys battling the worst of the snowy weather to bring their horses to the peak of their form in the hope that they could win the Scottish Grand National.
The race was meant to be all about one horse, Merigo, who looked set to make history as the first in the modern era to win three Scottish Grand Nationals. Now that he has sadly been retired, the race is wide open.
