As a comedian Ardal O鈥橦anlon听toured the world as a successful stand-up.听 And as an actor he鈥檚 delighted audiences as Father Dougal in Father Ted; from My Hero to Big Bad World; from Robbie The Reindeer to Dr Who; from Skins to God Of Carnage, there鈥檚 not much he can鈥檛 turn his hand to.听 He鈥檚 currently appearing in Josie Rourke鈥檚 production of The Weir at the Donmar, which marks the first major British revival of this undoubted modern classic.

4听years ago Bowness-based mother-of-three Paula Daly had never written a word of fiction. This week her debut novel - Just What Kind Of Mother Are You - a psychological thriller that sparked a bidding war among some of the UK鈥檚 top publishers, hits the shelves. It鈥檚 a rags-to-riches story that sounds like a work of fiction in itself.
