Omar is the Album of the Week

Gilles' album of the week is new LP The Man by British soul singer Omar, plus he pays tribute to US soul and folk singer Richie Havens, who passed away recently.

Album of the week comes courtesy of British soul singer/songwriter, Omar, featuring his new LP 'The Man', and Gilles pays tribute to US soul/folk singer Richie Havens who recently passed away. There's brand new music from the frontier of club culture, featuring producers such as Gold Panda, Pearson Sound, Nicolas Jaar, Romare and LV remixing Armenian virtuoso Tigran Hamasyan. Plus there's new Janelle Monae featuring Erykah, new hiphop with a return of the mighty Slum Village and De La Soul, and a reinterpretation of classic Black Sabbath played alongside a classic from 1970! And to keep things worldwide, Gilles digs in the crates pulling out some classic Freddie Hubbard, Yusef Lateef, and Augustus Pablo.
