Vikas Swarup's The Accidental Apprentice

Nihal asks if Asians are in denial about depression, plus Vikas Swarup, author of Q & A, the book that inspired the film Slumdog Millionaire, talks about The Accidental Apprentice.

Are Asians in denial about depression?
There's been sad news overnight that the Bollywood actress Jiah Khan has reportedly killed herself in Mumbai. She shot to success when she starred with Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd but hadn't been in a film since she spoke out about harassment in Bollywood in 2010.
Her friend, the director Ram Gopal Verma tweeted "Jiah was very depressed about her career and scared for her future"
Do Asians take take depression seriously? Huge strides have been made in the general population over the last twenty years. where once depression was a taboo now celebrities and campaigners have meant the condition is better understood and more treatment is available.
But have similar strides been made in Asian communities? If someone in your family has suffered from depression have they been dealt with sympathetically or is it still an issue that is hushed up.
If you have suffered from the disease how did you cope? Have you been able to get the help you need? Did you family and friends understand or were you shunned by the community?
Call now and tell me your stories.

Later we'll be talking to the author Vikas Swarup about his new novel 'The Accidental Apprentice'.
