In festival-founder Benjamin Britten's centenary year, the festival opens with a concert-hall performance of Britten's masterpiece Peter Grimes. Britten expert Steuart Bedford conducts the Britten-Pears Orchestra and The Chorus of Opera North and the Chorus of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Alan Oke in the title role.
