Thanks to Brahms's intervention, a publisher's leap of faith and a glowing review from an enthusiastic critic, Dvor谩k found himself launched from minor local celebrity to international star almost overnight. By then in his mid-30s, Dvor谩k already had a body of substantial works under his belt and had established his career in his Bohemian homeland. Donald Macleod introduces the works which forged Dvor谩k's reputation abroad, including the deeply felt choral work prompted by the death of his three children.
