A group of MPs says ministers have failed to make a convincing case for its 拢50bn high speed rail project. HS2: Are you convinced?
The government is setting aside 拢50bn for high speed trains from London to Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds, but a group of MPs says ministers are yet to make a case that justifies the hefty price tag.
The government says it will generate billions of pounds for businesses - and 100,000 jobs during the construction phase alone.
Will it help boost the economy outside London? Help ease overcrowding? Make travel quicker, easier, more comfortable?
Or are the environmental concerns too great? Are there quicker, cheaper ways to improve transport and give the economy a lift?
HS2: Are you convinced? Nicky Campbell takes your calls.
