#Folk6Music - The Ultimate Folk Playlist

Tom Robinson and the listeners pick the Ultimate Folk Playlist on Now Playing @6Music to celebrate the launch of the English Folk Dance and Song Society's online portal.

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) have launched a huge online portal of manuscripts and archive from the collections of Frank Sidgwick, Cecil Sharp, Ralph Vaughan Williams and many others - so we thought why not join in with this celebration of the music by asking you to pick the Ultimate Folk Playlist.
Folk singer Fay Hield was given the challenge to rummage through the 58,400 items which are available to find some of the hidden gems and employ a team of musicians including Seth Lakeman and Martin Simpson to recreate some of the tracks, many which had previously been lost to history. The culmination has been released this week: The Full English being a collection of a dozen tracks discovered from the archive and recorded to form an album.
To honour this rediscovery of forgotten folk Now Playing is giving you the chance, with help from some of the scene's leading artists and bloggers, to pick tracks which you think best sum up the music. Whether it's brand new emerging artists, or perhaps something you discover in the archive yourself - let us know what you think must be included and why.
