Finding Your Feet: rehabilitation courses

Tony Shearman attended a 2-day course in Portsmouth called Finding Your Feet, organised by the in association with .听


The programme was an introduction to sight loss聽for people of all ages whether newly registered or living with visual impairment for some time.听 Sighted partners and friends were also welcome. The programme offered emotional support and confidence building with workshops on many aspects of sight loss including equipment demonstrations, financial advice, mobility and even food nutrition. The focus though was very much on sharing experiences with others in a similar situation.


The next Finding Your Feet event takes place in Bristol on 15th & 16th Nov 2013 but all places are full. Dates have now been added though in Redruth (28th & 29th November 2013), Stoke (21st & 22nd January 2014) and Stafford (3rd & 4th March 2014).听

Were you on the 3 month residential course with Tony Shearman in 1988?

25 years ago Tony Shearman was registered blind and attended a similar rehabilitation programme but his was a 3-month residential course held at RNIB Manor House in Torquay in the Summer of 1988, where he was taught many different aspects of living with sight loss.听RNIB Manor House is now closed but Tony is keen to contact others who聽attended that course with him with a view to taking part in a聽special programme planned for 2014 to discuss how their lives as blind people have turned out 25 years on.
