The Friday Feltz Philological Challenge

We know it鈥檚 the end of the week but don鈥檛 switch off your brain just yet 鈥� it鈥檚 the Friday Feltz Philological Challenge!

If you鈥檙e a whizz with words then see if you can combine the four Words Of The Day from this week into an interesting and fun sentence听 - that actually makes sense!

The words are FRIZZLE, GROSGRAIN, JOCOSE and OSCILLATE so if you want to impress Vanessa send your entries by 0545 on Friday 29th November to be in with a chance of being selected.

Listener Paul from Middenhall's cauliflower and broccoli soup听听

Ingredients:

1/2 onion, roughly diced

240 g salted butter

whipping cream

1 small broccoli

1 small cauliflower

vegetable stock

100 g flour

salt

pepper

Step 1: Make The Cauliflower Soup

听

Place your diced onion in a pan with 120g butter. Heat on a medium heat to soften the onions. Chop 1 small cauliflower and add to the pan. Heat to soften, then add 50g flour and mix into the soup, making sure it is absorbed. Add some vegetable stock, bring to the boil, then simmer until cooked. Add some whipping cream to enhance the flavour. Use a stick blender to blend ensure a smooth consistency.

Step 2: Make The Broccoli Soup

听

Place 120g butter in a pan. Heat on a medium heat to soften the onions. Slice the broccoli, maintaining the soft inside part of the stalk. Slice the head of the broccoli into bite sized pieces and add to the pan. Heat to soften, then add 50g flour and mix into the soup, making sure it is absorbed. Add some vegetable stock, bring to the boil and simmer until cooked. Use a stick blender to ensure a smooth consistency.

Step 3: Combine The Soups

听

Pour the soups together into a bowl simultaneously to maintain the two halves. Serve.
