As the Foreign Office warns terrorist groups are getting rich from Western hostage ransoms, one man who was kidnapped in Somalia tells Victoria families often have little choice.
The Foreign Office is warning ransom payments made to kidnappers are directly fuelling terrorism in Mali and Yemen - and the situation is getting worse. That's despite a G8 agreement not to pay ransoms. Victoria speaks Nigel Brennan was kidnapped in Somalia in 2008 and held for 15 months - his relatives paid millions for his release.
Plus new figures from NHS England show patients have had objects like needles, swabs and even a glove left inside them. At one hospital, surgeons carried out heart surgery on the wrong patient and at another a woman had her fallopian tube removed instead of her appendix. In total, one hundred and forty eight so-called 'never events' - that's medical mistakes that should never happen - were carried out between April and September this year.
