We revisit Clive's visit to Berlin where disabled and deaf people were exterminated whilst incarcerated in institutions. Records sent to their parents claimed they died of illnesses like pneumonia but the truth is far darker. The Nazis used this experience to hone their techniques for the Jewish Holocaust that came later.
We also speak to a survivor who left Germany as part of the Kindertransport rescue mission. Escaping to the UK as just a young child without her parents, she coped in a strange land until the end of the war reunited them.
