#Seeger6Music - A Tribute to Pete Seeger
Nemone invites 6 Music listeners to create a tribute playlist celebrating the legacy of folk pioneer Pete Seeger, who passed away recently.
We pay tribute to late folk pioneer Pete Seeger, by inviting listeners to compile a special playlist honouring his musical legacy.
The US musician and activist, who passed away this week aged 94, is known for classic songs such as Turn! Turn! Turn!, a Number One hit for The Byrds and covered by many other big name artists.
Seeger also co-wrote Where Have All The Flowers Gone and was credited with making We Shall Overcome an anthem of resistance.
Those who have cited the Grammy Award-winning musician as a huge influence include Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez and Billy Bragg.
Nemone - sitting in for Tom Robinson - will be playing listeners' song suggestions as well as reflecting on how fans and musicians responded across social media after news of Seeger's death broke on Tuesday (January 28).
So what tracks must be on this special playlist that offers a befitting a musical tribute to Seeger's musical legacy? You can pick songs from the great man himself, collaborators, those who've covered his music or have been inspired by him... or any other interesting connection that you can think of.
