Housing Benefit Cuts And Single Parents

The proposed closure of听 the mother and baby unit at Focus E15 Foyer in London - a hostel that offers supported housing for young people, many of whom are single mothers - highlights the impact of not only council cuts, but also the changes to housing benefit. To highlight some of the difficulties faced by single parents in finding accommodation that鈥檚 both suitable and affordable, and the impact of the cuts in housing benefit, Jenni is joined by Caroline Davey, Director of Policy for .

Good Housekeeping

The latest consumer magazines figures have revealed that the most popular women鈥檚 magazine at the moment isn鈥檛 Marie Claire, Vogue, Glamour, or OK Magazine - it鈥檚 Good Housekeeping, knocking Glamour off the top spot, which it had held for over a decade. So are we all bored of fashion, skinny models, and celebrity gossip, and are turning to country kitchens, cushions, and cooking instead? Jenni is joined in the studio by Good Housekeeping Editor Lindsay Nicholson, and by journalist Sally Feldman.

Women In Defence

Why has a picture of defence ministers from four different European countries caused a retweeting frenzy recently? They are all experienced politicians from Norway, Germany, Sweden, and The Netherlands, and yet people seem to be surprised that they are in charge of their country鈥檚 armed forces. Well, the reason for the fuss is the fact that they are all women. Caroline Wyatt, the 大象传媒鈥檚 Defence Correspondent, joins Jenni to take a look at the controversy, and to discuss what a woman brings to the role of Minister of Defence.

Shopping With Mother

Do you have a significant shopping trip planned with your daughter, or your mother? Perhaps to buy a wedding dress, or baby clothes, or even an outfit for a funeral?听Have you had conflict with your teenage daughter or with your ageing mother which came out through shopping, but over time you have reconciled? Maybe shopping has been the key to restoring your relationship? It鈥檚 a persistent feminine fantasy that as a mother, going clothes shopping should be one of the best shared experiences听with your daughter. But is that always the case? Or does it sometimes lead to power struggles and arguments? Jenni discusses this with Elizabeth Burke, who is making a documentary, Shopping With Mother, and Daily Telegraph columnist and mother, Judith Woods.
