Nel Hedayat goes to back to the city where she was born, in arguably the most significant year in Afghanistan's recent history. By the end of 2014 all combat troops will leave Afghanistan, but where does that leave its children? Nel meets the child casualties of the war and speaks to a 15-year-old suicide bomber, who explains 'they told me it would make God happy'. Nel sees the influence of Western culture, including music, shopping and skateboarding. She also gets behind-the-scenes access to Afghan Star (Afghanistan's version of The X Factor). Just as Nel starts to relax, she gets a shocking reminder of life in a war zone.
