'Pee Wee' Ellis v Fred Wesley Fight Club

Craig referees a musical Fight Club between Fred Wesley and 'Pee Wee' Ellis, two members of James Brown's band from back in the day.

Going head to head in a musical fight club are 2 legends that performed in James Brown's band back in the day, Fred Wesley and 'Pee Wee' Ellis.

Fred played trombone with James Brown in the 1960's and 1970's, as well as Parliament-Funkadelic in the late 1970's. Pee Wee Ellis plays sax and was also an important member of James Brown's band in the 1960's and appeared on many of Brown's most notable recordings. Craig will referee the bout and the trusted Radio 6 Music listeners will pick the winner. And we continue to chart The History of Women in Funk & Soul, from Billie Holiday through to Amy Winehouse. At 8pm Craig puts together a 30-minute DJ set and then we continue to chart The History of Women in Funk & Soul. As we do each week we ask the 6 Music listeners to pick their favourite funk and soul tunes.
