The Detained
In a series of interviews conducted over 3 months, Catrin Nye gets a unique insight into life inside immigration detention centres.
Journalists are not allowed to film or record inside immigration detention centres meaning life inside can only be described by those who have left or over the phone from inside. Over the last 3 months reporter Catrin Nye has been speaking to those living inside three detention centres in England - Yarl's Wood, Dover and Harmondsworth. Some are foreign national prisoners facing deportation to countries they have not lived in since they were a child, some have had asylum claims rejected and say they will be killed on return home, others who have been rejected both by the UK and their country of origin so are stuck in limbo. We hear their powerful stories, ask why they are not returning home and explore what life is like when you have no way out.
