Malka Spigel

Post punk popstress Malka Spigel live in session tonight from London joined by hubby Colin Newman from post punk pioneers Wire and most of psychedelic krautrockers Younghusband.

Israeli born Spigel started her musical career in 1980s Amsterdam with Minimal Compact whose middle-eastern influenced post-punk earned them a Peel session, an NME single of the week and a cult following, particularly in Europe. Marrying Wire founder Colin Newman in 1986 the couple set up the Swim label, which has released Malka's three solo albums plus projects under the names Oracle and Immersion. Malka and Colin have also collaborated as part of the experimental pop group Githead. Away from music Malka also works as a photographer and artist.

Certainly a treat for all of us tonight.
