Forced marriage law; plus some adults with autism say they are afraid to leave the house because they are worried about facing abuse or harassment, according to a charity survey.
A woman whose family attempted to force her into marriage welcomes a new law which could mean more relatives are prosecuted. Also today, almost half of adults with autism say they're afraid to leave the house because they're worried about facing abuse or harassment, according to a charity survey. The National Autistic Society has spoken to 1300 adults on the autistic spectrum. Half of those asked said they had been abused by someone who they thought of as a friend. 37% said they had been manipulated to do something they didn't want to do by these so-called friends and 44% said fear of abuse or harassment led them to not wanting to leave the house. We hear listeners' stories.
