Sing for Life Choir
The Sing for Life community choir (main image at top), developed in partnership by Cancer Focus Northern Ireland and The Crescent Arts Centre, was established in September 2012 for anyone affected by cancer.听 The Belfast based choir provides the opportunity to meet others living with cancer, share time together in a supportive and friendly environment, and learn new skills in choral singing, with conductor Keith Acheson and Liz Atkinson of Cancer Focus.
Approximately 100 members attend a weekly 2hr practice session at the Moravian Church, University Road, Belfast.听 No singing experience is required to join.听 The choir鈥檚 repertoire includes upbeat and uplifting songs and is open for invites to perform at events.
Research has shown that singing in a choir can be extremely therapeutic for cancer patients helping to improve quality of life and self-esteem, and assist with pain relief and coping with depression.
