Looking at life in Glen Parva young offenders institute, described as 'dangerous' by a former prison officer and 'a jungle' by a former inmate.
More inmates at a Leicestershire young offenders institution will take their own lives unless staffing levels are increased, according to a former prison officer at the jail. Three prisoners have died in the past 15 months at Glen Parva, which was ruled as "not safe" by the chief inspector of prisons. David Murray, a retired officer who worked at Glen Parva for 30 years, says the prison was understaffed by 20 and the situation was getting unsafe "day by day". Also today, following the news that that former boxing promoter Frank Maloney is becoming a woman, we speak to three transexuals about their experiences. And the latest on the crisis in Iraq.
