Words and Music with Theo Parrish

Gilles has an in-depth interview with Detroit-based producer Theo Parrish, who talks about his life in music.

Gilles is back in the studio with a whole heap of musical vitamins, joining the musical dots between soul, hip hop, house, afro, electronica, jazz and beyond. This week Gilles talks in depth to Detroit based producer Theo Parrish about his life in music and his recent live shows in London and Manchester.

Born in Washington, raised in Chicago and now residing in Detroit, Theo Parrish is one of the most respected producers in the scene. He began spinning records at the tender age of 13, citing Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and George Gershwin as musical inspirations. Fast-forward nearly two decades and he has his own label, Sound Signature, is synonymous for his genre-spanning DJ sets around the world and has worked with a whole heap of musicians from Amp Fiddler to Moodymann.

Aside from chatting about his musical career and his recent live project, Theo brings a selection of tunes including some influences and hot-off-the-press new bits.
