After many requests, tonight's show will be a Mod Jazz special. We're taking you back to an era when the DJ was experimenting and looking to rediscover new dance sounds from the 50s and 60's. You'll be hearing classics from King Kurtis, Booker T and the M.G's, Ray Charles, Billy Preston, Sam Cooke, Georgie Fame...... Get your requests in now to Craig@bbc.co.uk.
Craig's guest is south London-based enthusiast for jazz, soul and funk. He worked at Acid Jazz Records in the 1990s working with Jamiroquai and the Brand New Heavies. And he can normally be found rummaging through Ace Records deliciously full vaults to put out the "Super Breaks", "Super Funk" and "Living In The Streets" series. It's Mr Dean Rudland.
Each week we shine our funk & Soul spotlight on a legendary lady in 'The History of Women In Fink & Soul'. Tonight it's the turn of Bettye LaVette, an American soul singer-songwriter who made her first record at 16 years old.
